milkweed sprout sighted on a lawn -

as a note -I planted seeds all over in beds however, have not seen any in those areas yet - I am hoping that the cold temps has slowed up the germination? this sprout appeared on it's own -

QUESTION: will my common milkweed patch - with adult plants that died back (stocks remain) will come back thru underground roots vs seeds?
