Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 05/21/2020

Number: 4

Nectaring on blossoming native chokecherry. I saw several more further alone on my bike ride.

The milkweed I've seen is only about 6-8" high; I checked the ones on my property (about 1/8 of a mile from where this photo was taken) and saw no eggs yet.

LOTS of red admirals and painted ladies flying now, nectaring on the same chokecherry as the Monarchs I saw. I've only seen one swallowtail this season (black), and that was nearly two weeks ago. Lots of silvery blues, Colias, and crescents flying though.
