Viewed first milkweed in the Maxton Plains Alvar on Drummond Island, MI. We stopped the car to see the first monarch sighting of the season (the first of three sighted today on Drummond Island). Getting out of the car we noticed a small milkweed just getting started then two more even smaller (one barely emerging from the ground). These were all right along the edge of the road (limestone pavement).
