Sightings report image

Date: 05/25/2020

Number: 1

Observed first female butterfly flittering through the garden in early afternoon. Butterfly made multiple passes through the garden. Over a 15 min period, while I was watching, the butterfly flew through the gardens in a circuit and laid a single egg on multiple common milkweed plants. After 5+ passes through the garden, she rested on a plant before flying off towards the neighbor's yard. I did not observe her drinking any nectar. All common milkweed plants in the garden were less than 12" tall.
Did not observe monarch landing on the swamp milkweed plants in the garden. Counted 19 eggs, with one egg per common milkweed plant on the bottom of the leaves.
