While reviewing Monarch Larva Monitoring Project protocols at new site near entrance to Standley Lake Regional Park and Wildlife Refuge, we spotted a monarch in very good condition circling around the milkweed patch. It did not visit the milkweed plants but rather flew up to a tree to nectar on small blossoms before circling off again. It was approximately 6:30 pm.
Nice confirmation that the site would be appropriate for monitoring for monarchs!!
