Saturday morning at 7:15AM I unzipped my greenhouse I have in the back yard. It was a very chilly night in the low 40s. When I opened the flaps I was greeted by an overnight visitor hanging on the wall. Her wings faded and a little tattered. It was still quite cold out, so I zipped up the greenhouse to keep it warm for a few more hours. I checked back around 11:00 AM and moved her over to my side garden where I have nectar plants. She hung around for a few photos and headed East. Cant tell from this photo, but she has a pretty large Abdomen. Looks like a distance traveler to me.
I have about 12 milkweed plants of varying sizes and have not seen any eggs from that visit.
