Sightings report image

Date: 06/12/2020

Number: 210

Dying medium and large Monarch Caterpillars aprox 210. Dying bc they ate aprox 9 full, busby milkweed plants. Additionally, the female adult Monarch butterflies have no where to lay eggs. No nurseries have any milkweed in stock and dates from vendors are unknown. This with negatively impact the rest of the season and could be a clue why Monarchs are in decline- they lay so many eggs, caterpillars eat all the limited milkweed preventing future generations from becoming Chrystalis and from laying new eggs.
