Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 06/14/2020

Number: 1

Today that same Chrystalis with a Monarch butterfly trapped in it had its legs out to cling to top of basket.

Today, we moved the crispy Chrystalis and it easily let the butterfly out but the body was huge and wings not fully functional and were all dry. Perhaps the birth fluids backed up, and dried out, or couldnt exit the Chrystalis timely so remain and made the body swollen as no fluids well our nor were below the Chrystalis. It was raised 100% wild and made its Chrystalis on patio table baskets. Placed on zinnia for nectar. Could not hold on. Had huge rear body, swollen, extended.
