Reported by Don Davis. Posted by Andrea to the Facebook Group Alberta Lepidopterists' Guild on June 13/20:"Backroad drives have given me glimpses of 3 Monarchs over the past 2 days. The weather today was 27 C, muggy, hazy, windy and overcast in the Battlefords. I took many FAILED photos of a Monarch buzzing around, unwilling to land even for a second. I edited 2 failures that at least show the colour and some of the markings. It has been since 2012 that the Monarchs have been here. We have had crazy winds from the East the past while. I hope in the next few days to be able to see them in my backyard. I am ready for them with 2 healthy and vigorous stands of Milkweed at their disposal! Fingers crossed!
NOTE: The "Battlefords" refers to two different Saskatchewan cities, located on opposite sides of the North Saskatchewan River. Battleford and North Battleford.
