The tendency is to report only sightings, but absence data is equally, if not more, important sometimes. I spent the weekend on South Bass island in Lake Erie, and this is the first of 3 reports from my monitor locations, all reporting zero monarch activity.
I checked my most productive site, at the State Park, and found 13 plants that have survived the rising lake levels. They were all on the cliff rim, overlooking the water. I checked 13 plants, and found no activity, not even chew holes.
