Found larva on common milkweed growing wild in a field. Guessing it to be a third instar. Checked other milkweed in area, did not find any others. Monarchs are very late this year in our area, still have not seen the butterfly nor have I found one egg on all of the 70 milkweed plants in my yard. Hoping today's larva is a promising sign of things to come.
