Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/15/2020

Number: 1

Submitted by Don Davis: Marg Millard wrote on the Nature Nova Scotia list about her monarch sighting. Another well known Nova Scotia monarch enthusiast assured me that Marg knows what a monarch looks like and she has milkweed on her property.

"Today we went to B'water and by the newer Bridge. Just past the Meadow Pond in Liverpool, as you head west from Liverpool, I saw a lovely big Monarch. Almost we hit it but it went up over the roof. When I returned here I checked my Milkweed but no sign of
eggs yet. The plants are from 2" and just starts up to about 12' maybe higher, I am trying to decide if I should pick tops out to make the stalks
branch. It worked with a few last year. By August we ran through three generations of Milkweed and the plants were done.
