First reported 2020 sighting of a monarch butterfly at Castlewood Canyon State Park. I volunteer pulling thistles from milkweed patches, which prevents park staff from having to spray the invasives (and harm milkweed in the process). I was just finishing up near West Side Trailhead at 9:00 AM, when this beauty flew over to thank us for saving his milkweed. It's why we do this back-straining work. Made my day!
The second sighting, a male, was on the east side of the park near the Visitor Center.
