Today I decided to visit all the milkweed patches in and around the town of Harrisville starting at 12:45 PM and ending at 2:10 PM. All locations are within 1/2 mile of the town. I started at School Drive and counted 10 monarchs in the milkweed field in front of an apartment complex. I then walked to town where I counted one monarch. From town, I walked down to the end of 2nd Street where I observed 6 monarchs on milkweed. At the end of 3rd Street, I saw 5 more monarchs on milkweed. Finally, at the beach with milkweed at Harrisville State Park, I observed 9 monarchs. Meanwhile, my friend Larry bicycled US-HWY 23 from Walker Road to Springport Road and saw 14 monarchs along the 3 mile ride. He then went to Harrisville Harbor and added 6 more monarchs among the milkweed. Weather was sunny with the Wind SE-7 mph, and the Temperature 78F. at 2:33 PM.
