Watched a single monarch nectaring on my Asclepias incarnata (swamp milkweed). I had forgotten how to sex them, but his one did not try to lay any eggs and after 10 minutes or so flew off northward. The time was about 2pm.
I would appreciate it if anyone can determine the sex from the photo. Sorry, it is not great and does not show the wings full open, but it was the best we could do with our phones and an uncooperative butterfly.
