Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/12/2020

Number: 1

First Monarch I observed for the year, this one in my backyard feeding off the nectar from the milkweed flowers in bloom.
Just this single male, had about 1/4 of left hind wing sheared off, and a good sized tear in its right side hind wing also. It flew & maneuvered very well despite the damage.
Very colorful & lively, so I wonder if this guy is a young adult that may have incurred damage early on!
He hung out & fed for 2 days before flying off. I am curious to see if he returns. Since the damage is so distinctive, I will know if it is the same one.
