I only saw one monarch and it was feeding, not laying eggs. I couldn't tell if it was a male or a female. In this same site on the same week last year, I counted over 100 caterpillars, 50 eggs, and many adults were flying around. There was a drought in June and the plants are not as tall or dense and there aren't as many flowers blooming this year. Not sure if that has something to do with it.
