Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/20/2020

Number: 1

This monarch laid eggs all over the butterfly milkweed, swamp milkweed and common milkweed in my yard. Quite an egg dump! It seemed quite happy flying around from plant to plant.

We have seen no chrysalides in the yard this summer. Many caterpillars, but caterpillars left on the milkweed have never survived. We have taken a handful of caterpillars into pop-up tents outside on the porch with potted milkweed plants or branches in floral tubes. Most, but not all, do well in the tents. If you want more information about the larva in the tents I can provide it to you. I have kept a journal.
