Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Date: 07/21/2020

Number: 2

Two hummingbirds were chasing around the garden. One was seen on each of tithonia, Thalictrum rochebrunianum, and Salvia microphylla "Hot Lips."

On the Salvia, the Hummingbird (a female or juvenile, spent 2 minutes and 17 seconds nectaring from at least 67 individual blossoms. The thalictrum plants also have a lot of individual flowers, but the hummingbird did not spend as much time at each one or visit as many of the flowers. The tithonia has 6 or 7 flowers, and the hummingbird that I saw visited 2 or 3 of them.
