Finally! One female came to visit me, first of the season here. So many people up north and ohio are not seeing anything. Was there a massive die off?
This female wasn't laying eggs, just wanting nectar. She hung around for about 15 minutes. This was during the day maybe around 11 am. I haven't been out this past week because I had back injections so I was bedridden. I am not sure if she has been around to visit or not. Last year, I had regulars visit at specific times. I have checked for eggs and nothing. However, I noticed today that I have yellowjackets going hovering under each leaf going from plant to plant so some caterpillars may have been taken? I have been checking everyday though.
One difference this year is that I am not growing tropical, just common milkweed. Last year they always played eggs on the tropical and that is where I got all of my 96 last year.
Sad that sightings are so low.
