Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Date: 07/27/2020

Number: 1

This is our first hummingbird since 10 May 2020. It appears to be a female ruby-throated hummingbird but could be an immature male. It may be our first fall migrant, or perhaps just a bird that was hatched in our area and is seeking territory. It nectared from various flowers, including cupheas, native red morning glory, and Russelia sarmentosa. We did not see it use the feeders (which we keep up year-round).
