My husband and I walked the trails of Reinstein Woods, an amazing piece of property donated to the state of New York in the 1980s by Dr. Victor Reinstein estate.
Anyway...Common Milkweed was seen along all the trails. I looked for larvae and finally found two tiny ones, just barely out of their eggs. I was concerned why I was not seeing more larvae. But, I concluded that the there had been a first wave of monarchs in this area and now there was probably going to be another surge or wave of them. The milkweed leaves showed much evidence that larvae had been eating on the leaves.
I did see one adult monarch flying about in one area.
