My husband and I walked the trails of the incredible state land of Reinstein Woods. It is a large piece of wild area donated by the estate of Victor Reinstein in the 1980s.
Common Milkweed lined the trails. I found 2 tiny monarch larvae. I was surprised I did not find more larvae - mature ones. Still, there was much evidence of chewed leaves, so I think an earlier generation had already developed.
I have submitted the 2 larvae sightings to JN.
Anyway, I eventually saw an adult monarch flitting around in one area. I bet if I came back to this place in a couple of weeks, I would find more larvae.
