Submitted by Don Davis: Dr. Phil Schappert of Halifax, Nova Scotia, writes: Pat and I were in the car this morning around 10:30am and were just about to leave home to run some errands when Pat said, "Hey, that's a Monarch." I got out of the car to see and we watched as a female Monarch circled around the yard and intermittently stopped long enough to lay multiple eggs on the Swamp MW (A. incarnata). She also investigated, but never saw her lay one on the Butterflyweed (A. tuberosa), though we'll know for sure in a week! Only watched for a couple of minutes as we were late to be somewhere but I saw her lay at least 4 eggs on the incarnata. She was no longer here when we returned.
