We have a large patch of monarda, both red and magenta. The hummingbirds prefer the red by far although they have been seen on the other. I don't know how many we have--we have seen as many as five at once but I'm pretty sure there are more--they are always buzzing all over our yard and around the feeder. Watching them is one of the best parts of summer!
