Began with 8. Dwindled to 5. 3 died of the black death. The last 2 made it to maturity.

These were growing on milkweed outside, along my deck, so in natural conditions. I could hardly get anything done for wandering outside to check on them. Ha! But I never did bring them inside, preferring to watch them in the wild.

Several ladies in my chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution have plots planted with milkweed to help restore some of the Monarchs’ habitat. This is my first year to plant milkweed and I was thrilled to find “cats” devouring them. I hope to have more of them next year!
