As we were biking the Sakatah Trail we saw 6 Monarchs in about the space of 3/4 of a mile. The habitat was less than waist high brushy grasses, milkweed, and wildflowers. The area was fairly open and surrounded by mostly corn fields and a wetland area. As we biked to a more wooded area about 100 yards from a lake, we saw no more Monarchs. We saw no Monarchs on our return trip either. The trip was from about 6:00 pm - 7:15.
