Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Date: 08/12/2020

Number: 3

About 6 weeks ago we pulled in all our feeders because we had a black bear with a thirst for hummingbird food. The birds disappeared. Then a friend told us about Firecracker flowers (Cuphea hybrid). Only one nursery nearby had them. I brought a few home and while I was repotting them the hummingbirds returned. The flowers are so much better than feeders! We see 1-6 hummingbirds every day now.
