Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/12/2020

Number: 18

Found one dead cat.

The larvae are growing wild, and this is in a garden setting. I just planted six butterfly weed plants earlier this spring, and that's where they are all concentrated.

We moved into this home just outside of Sauk City last year. It's just over an acre of land. The home was previously owned by a master gardener who did freelance landscaping as well. Needless to say, there are a ton of pollinator plantings. But, there had been very little milkweed (other than some growing in the ditch by the roadside). I am happy to see the butterfly weed I just planted being so well-used-- it tells me there must have been pent up demand!
