Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/12/2020

Number: 21

That includes two mating pair.

There is a great amount of milkweed in my fields which attracts monarchs. I see monarchs all the time, today (8/15/20) 5 on the field I was on.

On 8/12/20, I saw 21 all at the same time and I saw more as I went back to the house. I was that field about 3 hours. I saw two mating pairs, nectaring ones, perhaps some egg laying but no directional flight. It is too early for them to start migration.

I have been seeing good numbers of monarch over the last three years.

There is flowering thistle now. They use that as do many other butterflies. I set aside large plots of milkweed knowing it will produce monarchs.
