So many and lots of eggs and mating going on.
Over the past couple weeks, the amount of Monarchs has increased, noticeably. I have many eggs on the milkweed, much nectaring and much mating rituals. The 20 I reported were all in one day (8/13/20) within the same hour. I see at least 15 most days when I am working in the farm to table garden. There are rows of zinnias and other flowers that the nectar lovers seek. The monarchs simply love the sunflowers.
I can't say that I notice directional flight. I can only see them flying about from flower to flower nectaring and the females placing eggs on the milkweed.
