Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/17/2020

Number: 3

I saw something this morning that I have never seen two Bully Momma Monarchs. They were harassing the large caterpillars and then going down and laying on lower leaves. They did this more than once. I have heard that females will check plants for other eggs, but I have never seen anything like this. Adults beating up on caterpillar. I consider this competition. There was plenty of milkweed, but both the females decided to try to push the large caterpillar off these three plants. https://www.facebook.com/groups/butterflyandmothconservation/permalink/3654112494603376/

The third female was small and faded. I am seeing more females and males stop by to nectar and lay.
