Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 08/20/2020

Number: 2

I have protected and have been feeding (in a butterfly cube outside) 13 caterpillar to date. Found two more yesterday about an inch long. I have had 7 successful butterflies-5 females 2 males in the last two weeks. Currently one in chrysalis, two hanging in J and three munching. I have witnessed half a dozen females go through the act of placing eggs on many milkweed plants in my yard but either something is getting them or the eggs are blank. All my milkweed has been and is infested with Mediterranean aphids. This year has been bad. Very low numbers of monarchs to date compared to two years ago. Last year I was away and didn't participate.
