Female ruby throat with white feathers around the base of her beak arrived late this afternoon. As I have noted in previous years,an identical bird shows up here every August and has done so since 2011. I have no way to prove it's the same hummer,but it's the only time of year I have ever seen one marked like that in this location. The bird that arrived today acted familiar with the lay out of flowering plants and the location of feeders,which would indicate that she has been here before.
