during our morning walk along Water Street we glimpsed a large monarch larva on a small, tender common milkweed plant growing in a narrow strip of soil between sidewalk and building. nearby similar milkweed plants were recently cut, stomped to ground, or stripped of leaves. therefore, we carried this larva to a more remote patch of young common milkweed plants 0.64 miles further south along Water Street. this is our first and only monarch larva during 2020.
