Saw a male monarch on the ground. He struggled to fly to a shrub. I captured him and his wing was broken. He also looked a bit thin so took him in, gave him the 5:1 water:sugar ratio which he ate for a while. Then, some water followed by a small wedge shaped piece of Tyvek tape. I wrapped over top of the break and down into the wing. Fit perfectly. Took him out. He adjusted his wing for about 30 seconds and then, without hesitation, flew almost straight up with ease about 30 feet, and flew in a due South direction. Migrant. If anyone finds a male with Tyvek tape stuck to the right wing, he was fixed here.
