Monarch Waystation #271 reports several stages of monarch larvae found on milkweeds during this date. Just after 7 am two larvae, either late 4th or early 5th instars, were found on potted tropical milkweed in front. One was resting on the stem in an odd position [photo] while the other was resting head downward on the underside of a "flagged" leaf near the top of the same stem. At 9 am these 2 larvae were missing but I found a tiny 2nd instar on a top leaf, and saw a wasp checking over a nearby tropical milkweed's stem and leaves. At noon in the back I found another 2nd instar on tropical milkweed growing in the bed. This was not a diligent search, just came upon them as I weeded and noticed feeding sign.
