On August 10, 2020, Iowa suffered a dericho storm. A level 2 hurricane with straight line winds. There was no warning even 1 hour before it hit.
Prior to the storm I could sit on my porch and count 15 monarchs, After the storm I could only count 12 and about half were pale and some with tattered wings.
For the next 10 days neither I or two of my friends who look for eggs found any eggs in our yards.
My yard is a Monarch waystation and I raise monarchs for release.
