Yesterday it rained most of the day. I thought maybe the monarchs would have been driven down by the storms and would be nectaring today. My friend (Larry) and I made the following observations:
10:50 AM 1 in my front yard.
11:15 AM 3 at the railroad tracks at Harrisville State Park.
11:40 AM 1 at the end of 3rd Street.
11:45 AM 2 at the end of 2nd Street.
Noon 6 at 3rd and Jackson Streets.
12:05 PM 2 in town.
12:10 PM 4 at 1st and Church Street.
12:25 PM 9 at the harbor.
12:50 PM 3 at the District #2 Health building lawns.
1 PM 9 at the 3rd Street walkway.
1:20 PM 5 at the public library flower gardens.
1:45 PM 3 at the end of School Drive.
2 PM 3 at the back of the credit union on US HWY-23.
2:30 PM 2 back at my house. They left at 4:20 PM heading West.
5 to 8 PM. 1 at hourly checks in my flower garden. It went up into a White Pine at 7:52 PM. Today the monarchs were nectaring on Spotted Knapweed, Gayfeather, mint sp., Purple Loosestrife, Butterfly Bush with blue spikes, Tall Goldenrod, and Queen Anne's Lace. Weather was mostly sunny to 5 PM when it went to 100% sunshine with the Wind SW-13-20 mph turning West at 15 mph, and finally WNW calm in the evening. The Temperature topped out at 84F.
