Surveyed the yard this evening to try and get a count of eggs and larvae and was delighted to find both in all the usual places. The largest patch of honeyvine milkweed was home to 21 larvae in every stage of development. The common milkweed was home to 6 more and 3 additional were scattered among other honeyvine milkweed locations. We have been witnessing much egg laying the past few days and were able to identify at least 12 individual eggs with undoubtedly many others too hidden to locate. Typically there have been anywhere from 3 to 10 adults in the yard at any given time nectaring intensely on the wild onion, tithonia, zinnias, phlox, annual salvia and sedum. Weather was partly cloudy, hot and humid with highs around 90F, humidity of 70% and winds from the SW at 10-15 mph.
