Observed a hummingbird feeding on our Mexican Sunflowers today, when a 2nd hummingbird appeared and began a series of "dives" - diving nearly straight down right at the 1st hummer. The base of the dive was marked with a sharp chirp sound. I concluded it was a territorial display over a prime food source, punctuated with a chirp as a warning. There were 6-7 dives, it was interesting to see. There are 60-70 Mexican Sunflower blooms, so plenty to choose from.
