Caterpillars on Gomphocarpus physocarpus balloon milkweed that we did not put in net enclosures because we did not have enough room. Normally they would not hatch or would not survive a day or two after hatching before being consumed . These are the first caterpillars since March 2020 that have lived long enough on this type milkweed to see their stripes.

We also have 2 other types milkweed planted nearby.
