cloudy 70 degrees, light sw wind. Saw 5 monarchs in the clearing by the trailhead on E. Jefferson St. just before the cemetery. Then saw the rest along the border of the cemetery grounds. Most were trying to nectar on the tall weeds or looking for roosts in deciduous trees or on bare branches....about 4.30 pm. instead of in the conifers as usual. Light rain shortly after we left.
