Several monarchs seem to be migrating through my neighborhood.
They were heading south. I have a very large field behind my house and they travel through the field. Probably gives them a good stretch not having to deal with cars.
Wind speed was probably 10 mph and south at that time.
[I observed the 10 adults] over hours. I work outside in my backyard and I saw them one at a time throughout the day. Sometimes with a lot of time between each one and sometimes with little time between each one.
They were all very healthy and traveling gracefully and with great spirit. One stopped and drank from my butterfly bush. I have milkweed, butterfly bush, lavender, zinnias and several herbs in flowering right now. Surprisingly in the last three years I've seen them they rarely break in my yard.
