I'm really starting to wonder if this is same Rufous that overwinters.
He came back in today around 10 a.m. went straight to feeder I put out yesterday he likes. Going to what else, Hamelia first. His Aimstead,
Rockin salvia are fried from heat. But Black and blue sage made it. It is in 108 heat index so they all hide out in trees again.
Male Rufous got his second wind today and is now chasing out
1 broadtail
3 sub adult rubythroats.
Then refuels at his feeder.

I would like to note Rufous hummingbirds semm to return to same spots in winter for us.

They do not have their breeding plumage in winter when I see them.

So I'm waiting to see if this one takes off to New Orleans and our real Rufous comes at Christmas as usual.

Be ready, NewOrleans - Rufous are back.
