This little male (approx. 1.5-2 inch thorax to apex) was hand reared from an egg. (J-hooked early. Always had plenty of fresh mw.) What has surprised me, in addition to never seeing one this small, is how long it has been nectaring on my sedum. Going on 3.5 hours now! Maybe the little ones know they need more to make it to Mexico?
