Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)
Sightings report image

Date: 08/20/2020

Number: 10

On 8/20/20 I noticed that the Ruby's were back. They have been gone all summer & we've had daily visits from the Black-chinned hummingbirds that I miss now. In May we hung our first feeder with sugar water we make. It's out my office window which is right above my computer screen. I see many hummingbirds every single day. I'm an herbalist & I have many herbal gardens. Some native plants & some such as Sage, Rosemary, Thyme, more European plants. This plant in the photo is a Texas favorite that we pick & eat as food. I didn't know that the all the hummingbirds would like it too. Common Name: Turk's Cap. Latin: Malvaviscus arboreus var. drummondii They love it. So now I leave it for them & will plant much more of it for us to share. And they visit our native Rock Rose as well & many Salvias. Our feeder is of course loved, but I like to see them on my plants as nature should be. This is my first day on your site. Thank You! I hope to share often.
