I was just casually watching from my window on this mid-morning and I saw at least 4 ruby throated humming birds coming to my feeders at intervals. They were females, I believe. They were only sipping and then moving on. There was no guarding behavior seen. I'm sure there were more coming and going the rest of the day, but I did not have a chance to watch.
It was a beautiful day in the 60s with sun and clouds, mostly sun.
Another female Ruby Throat was checking out the jewelweed (mostly pale variety - with a few spotted) that grows along two sides of my house as a hedge. This female visited 15-20 flower heads before flying away from the house and flowers. This is my second sighting of a Ruby Throat foraging for nectar on the flowers of my jewelweed hedge.
