Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/06/2020

Number: 23

My wife and I went for a 1.5 hour (10:30 am until 12 noon) walk around the dykes of the Tiny Marsh Provincial Wildlife Area. We counted 23 adult monarchs flying above the abundant goldenrod and milkweed that lines the raised trail and also over the water of the marsh. The wind was very light at about 5 km/hr from the NW with mostly sunny skies with only a few scattered clouds. The monarchs over the water were rising aloft and flying towards the SSW. The temperature was 15-17 degrees C. Mostly individual monarchs were observed with a few pairs and one trio.
