Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/31/2020

Number: 1

Monarch came to my milkweed and laid approx nine eggs. I only had a few native milkweed so I ordered some tropical because my neighbor had grown one and it was huge and attracted monarchs. I had not seen a monarch in my garden for many years until I planted the tropicals. They seem much more interested in it than the scraggly natives I have. However, I know it is better to plant the native, so next year will sacrificing most of the vegetable garden to plant large amounts of native, mostly the common and tuberosa.
